EvokeAg in Perth and a few things worth watching in agtech
Written by Ruminati Team on February 22, 2024
AgriFutures EvokeAg in Perth brought together a concentrated cross-section of the agtech and agricultural innovation world, the kind of event where the hallway conversations are often as useful as the sessions themselves.
Bobby Miller was there for Ruminati, catching up with a range of organisations working across different parts of the producer support landscape. The team at AgronomEye and FarmLab were among the familiar faces, both doing important work on the data capture and agronomic insight side of things that complements what Ruminati is building on the emissions and sustainability reporting end.
A shoutout from CommBank's Carmel Onions and Natasha Greenwood was a welcome moment of recognition- and a reflection of how far the conversation with CommBank has progressed. The pilot project the we’ve been working on together is focused on understanding how farm-level emissions data can be made useful and accessible for agricultural finance, and the progress being made there is genuinely encouraging. More to share on that soon!
Jackson Hewett from AuctionsPlus also did a strong job covering the event- a good reminder that the connections being made in rooms like this have a way of surfacing in unexpected places down the track.
EvokeAg is useful precisely because it gathers people who are thinking seriously about where agricultural technology is heading (producers, investors, corporates, researchers and startups) and creates conditions for the kind of conversation that doesn't happen easily when everyone's operating in their own lane. The opportunities that open up in those two days tend to take months to fully appreciate.
There's more coming out of Perth that we're looking forward to sharing. Watch this space!
